Our Team

Senior Guides

The people who will actually lead your safari.

A safari is as good as the guide you have.

Bad guide: you see three lions and a wildebeest in a week. Great guide: you understand a whole ecosystem. We have eight senior guides on full-time salary — a commitment most operators avoid because it's expensive. The payoff is that our guides are genuinely invested in every trip.

What Makes Us Different

Four Structural Differences

Not marketing fluff. Four decisions we've made that change the guiding you get.

— 01
Salary, Not Commission

Most operators pay guides per trip — incentivising upsells and rushing. Our guides are on full salary, so they only think about making your trip exceptional.

Our model
— 02
WCET Certified

All senior guides hold the Wildlife Conservation Education and Training certification. Multi-year study, field evaluations, rigorous.

Industry standard
— 03
Specialisations

Bird specialists (700+ species lists), photography co-leaders, walking-safari certified, Kilimanjaro summit-certified. Match the guide to the trip.

Experts
— 04
Local Knowledge

Every senior guide grew up in Tanzania. Chagga, Maasai, Iraqw, Meru backgrounds. Six languages between them. Cultural context you can't import.

How We Work

The Standards

Four practices we hold ourselves to — and how they show up in your trip.

Our Standards

Qualifications

All our senior guides are WCET-certified (the Wildlife Conservation Education and Training program). Most have been guiding since their early twenties. The senior team has a combined ~120 years of bush experience.

Our Standards

Languages

English (fluent). German, French, Spanish, Italian as requested. Swahili is everyone's mother tongue. Several guides have working Japanese after decades with Japanese photography clients.

Our Standards

Specialisations

Ornithology (4 of our 8 are serious birders — 700+ species lists). Photography (2 guides who've co-led pro workshops). Walking safari certification (3). Kilimanjaro summit-certified lead guides (4).

Why salary, not commission

Most operators pay guides per trip — meaning guides push upsells, rush stops, and move to the next trip fast. Our salary model eliminates all those incentives. Our guides have nothing to gain by rushing you.

"Emanuel is a genius. After fifteen years of guided travel this is the best guide we have ever had. Patient, knowledgeable, and funny."
