Safari Accommodations

From affordable lodge camps to fly-in luxury tented properties. We work with every level.

Tanzania's safari accommodations span a wide quality and price range.

Understanding the categories helps you budget accurately and match the experience to your expectations. Here's the honest breakdown.

Tier by Tier

The Details

What each tier really looks like, in depth.

Accommodation
— Tier 01
Accommodation

Budget camping

Dome tents on group-camp sites, shared facilities, basic meals from a travelling cook. Functional but genuine. Good for young travellers and backpacker safaris.

Accommodation
— Tier 02
Accommodation

Mid-range lodge/camp

Proper en-suite rooms or tents, restaurant meals, pool, decent design. Serena and Sopa chains, plus many excellent independents. Most of our 'Essential Serengeti' and 'Family Explorer' trips use this level.

Accommodation
— Tier 03
Accommodation

Premium tented

The first step into genuine luxury. Private tents with plumbed bathrooms, four-poster beds, quality cuisine, often in private concession areas. Asilia, Nomad, Elewana Collection, Wayo.

Accommodation
— Tier 04
Accommodation

Luxury fly-in

The top tier. Singita, &Beyond, Legendary Expeditions, Asilia's Jabali and Sayari. Fly-in only. Private concessions, butler service, champagne bush breakfasts, Michelin-trained chefs. What a honeymoon budget allows.

Accommodation
— Tier 05
Accommodation

Ultra-luxury

Singita Faru Faru, Sasakwa, Serengeti Safari Camp's premium cottages. Top handful of beds in the country. 6-figure budgets typical for a full trip.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★

"We went with premium tented. The Sayari camp was better than any hotel we've ever stayed in. Plunge pool, four-poster bed, chef-cooked breakfast at the bush."
